I believe that the technology has finally moved beyond the scanner wand for 3d.  I can’t wait for a few positive reviews and a list of the limitations for the Makerbot Digitizer.  This machine could be the cotton gin of our time.  Industrial design has been tied down by the necessity of second and third parties before a project can get into production on anything using 3d printing technology thus far.  Combine this with outsourcing the manufacture to printing companies with higher quality material options and you have an almost craft level revolution for products.  Anything you can make by hand can be repeated.
